Amba Prashad Rotary charitable Eye Hospital is a combined venture of Amba Prashad Rotary Charitable Eye Hospital Trust and Rotary club Sundernagar to provide world class eye care and treatment to the public irrespective of caste, colour creed and economic background. It was felt that in this part of Himachal we did not have well equipped Eye hospital and people have to go presently to Rotary Eye hospital Palampur, government and private hospitals in Shimla ,Chandigarh and other places.Sundernagar being strategically located right in the middle of Himachal and this hospital could prove boon for the people of the districts of Mandi, Bilaspur, Kulu, Hamirpur, Lahaul spiti and few area of Shimla and Solan district.
The complete cost of the project is estimated to be fifteen crore. We have already got 977 sq.meter land on lease from Himachal Pradesh government in the prime location adjoining highway in the middle of the town. We form ed a charitable trust for the purpose with the blessing of Shri Amba Prashad who is an NRI based in US and he has assured us a donation of Rs two crore for the purpose and he is also providing us technical know how and guidance from the world level experts. Rotary international will help us in procuring machinery and arranging specialists doctors for various eye specialties from abroad from time to time. Our Rotary district 3070 which comprises J&K, Ladakh, Himachal and half of Punjab is already running eye hospitals in Palampur, Udhampur, Kulu.
We would develop synergy with these institutions to get the best results for patients by sharing our resources and knowledge. We have already started the construction of the building with the estimated cost of around seven crore and work is going on in full swing and we hope that we will complete building within a year from now, in the coming six months we will start ordering machinery and equipment's. For funds we are mainly depending on public donation,corporate funding under their CSR initiatives.we want to make this hospital a self sustaining venture and have kept the other options open like introducing other specialties which are required and need based for this region.
